A Autism and Adhd 501(c)3 Non Profit

Welcome to
Mindscape Neurodiversity Institute

Founded in February 2024, The Mindscape Neurodiversity Institute is a result of both personal determination and a deep commitment to advocacy for the neurodivergent community.

The flagship website, TheNeurodivergentBrain.org, was built from the ground up and has since been advertised globally, attracting visitors from all over the world.

The site is completely free and accessible to anyone with internet access, providing valuable resources to help individuals with Autism and ADHD navigate their unique challenges.

Currently, I run the organization on my own. My name is Christina Avelar, and I am autistic with ADHD, diagnosed at age 46. After navigating a lifetime of challenges, I realized how crucial advocacy and support are for our community. Motivated by that need, I began building this organization from scratch.  On September 6th, 2024, I officially achieved 501(c)(3) status.

As a mother of three children, two of whom have ADHD and one who is autistic, I understand firsthand the need for change. We deserve equal opportunities for success and a high quality of life. I am deeply committed to this mission because it’s personal for me and for so many others.

Everything you see here has been a labor of love and determination. I’ve put in the effort not just for myself, but for all of us—because we deserve a platform that supports our growth, amplifies our voices, and provides the resources we need to thrive.

Our mission is to provide vital resources, conduct groundbreaking research, and advocate for the neurodivergent community, helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges with clarity and confidence.

I believe that with the right knowledge, every individual can better understand themselves and communicate their needs effectively to others.

At the core of our organization is a dedication to advancing understanding and acceptance of neurodivergent individuals.

I hope to foster a society that not only recognizes the unique strengths of neurodiverse minds but actively supports and celebrates them.

To continue offering these critical resources and to further our research and advocacy efforts, I rely on the generosity of those who share our vision of an inclusive world.

Your support is essential in helping us maintain free access to these resources and ensuring that every neurodivergent individual has the tools they need to thrive. If you believe in our mission, we invite you to contribute and join us in making a meaningful impact.

Together, we can create a world that values neurodiversity.

Our Goals

Mindscape: A Proposal for a Haven for Neurodivergent Families

Las Vegas attracts over 40 million visitors annually, making it one of the top tourism destinations in the world. Known for its affordable hotel rates, frequent flight deals, and endless entertainment options, Las Vegas offers a unique combination of accessibility and excitement. Despite this, an estimated 87% of families with neurodivergent children—particularly those with Autism and ADHD—avoid vacations due to a lack of accommodations that meet their needs.

Our Vision

Mindscape is dedicated to establishing a hub that caters to the unique needs of neurodivergent individuals, especially those with Autism and ADHD. We aim to create a supportive environment where families can find balance, harmony, and enjoyment.

Our proposal includes:

  • Day Camps and Week-Long Programs: Our specialized programs will provide an inclusive environment for neurodivergent children and adults. Led by neurodivergent employees and volunteers, these programs ensure that participants can be themselves in a space run by peers and understanding adults.

  • Engaging and Tailored Activities: From interactive animal farms to hands-on classes in model building, engine repair, and other neurodivergent-friendly activities, we will offer a diverse range of experiences designed for both children and adults. These activities allow participants to explore their interests in a supportive, accommodating setting.

  • Support for Parents: Mindscape will support parents by offering consultations and classes with neurodivergent professionals. These resources will help families bring a sense of harmony into their homes and offer strategies for parenting neurodivergent children.

  • Research and Education Facility: A core element of Mindscape will be its research center, dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding of Autism and ADHD. This volunteer-oriented facility will provide opportunities for learning, exploration, and the development of new educational practices, empowering both researchers and the neurodivergent community.

Building an Inclusive Community in Las Vegas

By establishing Mindscape in Las Vegas, we aim to contribute to the city’s diversity and inclusivity. Our center will provide neurodivergent families with opportunities to enjoy vacations that were previously inaccessible to them. This not only enriches the lives of these families but also fosters a more inclusive community within the city.

The presence of Mindscape can enhance Las Vegas’s reputation as a forward-thinking destination that values all visitors. By addressing the needs of neurodivergent individuals, we support the city’s commitment to inclusivity and social responsibility.

Collaborating for Social and Economic Growth

While our primary mission is to support neurodivergent individuals and their families, we recognize that our efforts can also have positive ripple effects on the local economy. By welcoming families who might otherwise not consider a vacation, we help local businesses and contribute to the city’s long-term sustainability.

Our collaboration with the city and local organizations can create a win-win situation: neurodivergent families receive the support and opportunities they deserve, and the community benefits from increased diversity and engagement.

Join Us in Our Mission

Mindscape’s vision is to become a beacon for neurodivergent families, offering a holistic space for education, support, and research. We invite the city of Las Vegas, local businesses, and community members to join us in creating a more inclusive world—one where every family, regardless of neurodiversity, can thrive and enjoy life to the fullest.

A Neurodivergent-Friendly Center

Imagine a center in Las Vegas where autistic and ADHD adults of all support needs and levels could gather, hang out, and engage in activities tailored to their special interests. This center would not only offer diverse activities but also provide an environment where all staff members—from the receptionist to the janitor to the medical staff—are neurodivergent.
